I voted ‘no.’ If NASCAR does suspend Cousin Carl, they better stop the “New Rules” commercial, which has Brad & Carl’s ‘Dega wreck in it. He should even get a fine.
However, if Bill France Jr. was still in charge, I bet Carl & Brad would be invited to Daytona. There could be a repeat of the Dale Earnhardt/Jeff Bodine (it was spelled Jeff at that time) dinner & rental car incident, but most definitely the “you need NASCAR more than NASCAR needs you” lecture.
Unfortunately, NASCAR no longer has that intimidating figure running the sport. Which is very, very sad.
I agree with what Shirley said, BUT knowing now that Carl only received a 3 week probation period is ridiculous.
Carl was countless laps down and took out a potentially race winning car (top 5 at least). No matter what NASCAR told Carl personally in the hauler, they told the rest of the field, if they have an issue with someone get the car back out on the track and take care of business. Drivers aside, how pissed are car owners going to get if top 5 cars start getting taken out by wrecked cars because a driver is upset?
Nate and Shirley you both are right. What Carl did wasn’t right, I don’t condone it, but at the same time if NASCAR says “HAVE AT IT BOYS!!” then a suspension would ruin the whole deal. I figured a fine and points deducted was in order……..
I’m sorry, Shirley, as much as I respect you and your opinions…..there’s a diff between retaliation and almost criminal intent. LOL, a bank robber saying I didn’t know it was loaded. Is still guilty! Carl knows what cars can do at those speeds. And, there was nothing in that race that wasn’t Carl’s fault. You dont do , “Well he deserved it, or paybacks @195.” Carl fucked up and I’m tired of people defending him with payback shit!
