Hey Gang—
I know it’s early, however, it looks like maybe the writing is on the wall, or notice is being served. Jimmie Johnson and the 48 crew are not backing down and are taking all comers.
Is the 5th straight championship for him in the books?
I know that there was a lucky break at California, but they took advantage of it. Depending on how you want to look at it at Las Vegas, good luck on the 48 team’s part or a bad call on the 24’s team part, he took advantage of it, again.
Jeff Gordon led 218 laps and was the car to beat, for a change. The late call for 2 tires instead of 4 is what lost the race for them. Jimmie took 4 and just wore Jeff out in the closing laps. Good call by Chad Knause, bad call by Steve Letarte?
Probably both. But on Monday morning that is an easy call to make. Jeff pretty much held off all challengers under all conditions all day long.
Chad made the call that was needed to beat Jeff & the 24 team, and Jimmie drove the car in expertise fashion to make it work.
I want to know what you guys think. I will repeat that Jimmie has had some lucky breaks, but he and his team have taken advantage of every break that has come their way.
At this point, barring some catostrophic event(s), it looks like Jimmie and the 48 team are the team to beat, again.
Am I wrong?

IMO, not wrong at all, Dave. I picked the 48 team to get #5 this season. They are proving us both right.
No your not wrong. But I am not picking him to win number 5 just yet.
